What is the difference between HP laptops and HP Pavilion laptops and which laptop do you recommend?

I am interested in buying a new laptop but don't know which one to get. My last two desktop computers have been Compaq but was recommended an HP Pavillion at Office Depot last week.

Why is my Dell laptop beginning to get a burned mark on the bottom part of screen?

After starting the laptop, Dell Inspiron 600m, there is a part of the screen exactly to the right of the "Dell" logo on the bottom part of the monitor that becomes very very hot, can't even touch it for too long because it's so hot. It happens after about 10 minutes of turning it on. [...]
