My school is currently replacing my Dell laptop hard drive for free (under warranty) with a new hard drive. But, is it better just to get a completely new laptop? I hear Macs have less of a frequency of hard drive crashes and are just made better. Is that true?

Well, I have a Gateway laptop that is stuck in safe mode and I just want to reformatthe damn thing. However, I bought it online and it didn’t come with a disk. Can I still reformat it and how ?
