CTRL + F11 is the correct procedure for dell. During startup and certainly during the time when the Dell Logo is being displayed continuously depress the F11 key
If that does not work then perhaps your laptop is to old for this recovery procedure or the hard disk has at sometime been replaced and the recovery not been copied over.
look into the other suggestion or buy another o/s

Well, is the printer a true wireless printer, or is it connected to the router wirelessly or through network cable, or is it attached to your other computer which is then connected to the router? It makes a difference on how to advise you.

If you can provide more details, I can provide a more detailed answer for the setup you have.

If the printer is attached to the desktop computer which is then attached to the router, you need to setup printer sharing on the desktop and install the necessary printer driver on the laptop, then do some procedures to connect the two together through the router, but your desktop needs to be on all the time in order to print.

If the printer is wireless and connected to the router wirelessly, you also need to install the correct printer drivers on your laptop and install the printer, and then setup the printer connection through the router from there.

Again, I'd need more details on how you're currently setup and exactly how you'd like to be setup in order to use the printer the way you want. You may need to email me with more details in order for better help.

Click on the "start" menu - then click on "turn off computer". I hope you are not serious.

You don't need access to the welcome menu, you need access to the start menu. Might I suggest you sell the computer and start playing checkers?

From a brief overview of the two laptops, it appears identical. Both are 14" laptops, and both have approximately the same weight.

The main difference is the target market. The Inspiron is targeted more at the consumer market, and will include much more trial software.

The Inspiron 1420 offers a selection of different colors (you'll be paying for it!), and includes starts off with the older/slower chips (667 MHz FSB) as opposed to the standard 800 MHz FSB of the Vostro.

The price is also a factor, as the Vostro is slightly cheaper at the moment.

The FSB speed aside, the laptops are about evenly matched. I would purchase the Vostro.

However, if you're in search of a much higher quality laptop, I would recommend a Lenovo Thinkpad.
