How do you repair a Dell laptop that has spyware?
My laptop was purchased in 2006 and I've lost the discs that came with it. We have a Dell desktop and I'm wondering if those discs would be okay to use for my laptop or would I have to seek professional help? I'm trying to save money!
If the issue is spyware, try running a complete system scan with an anti spyware program
You can read reviews and link to downloads here http://netforbeginners.about.com/od/antivirusantispyware/a/anti_malware07.htm
some are free.
Then run an antivirus scan, reviews and download links here http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/82713
clean your computer with a program like CCleaner , http://www.ccleaner.com/
If all else fails, and you need to format and reinstalll your OS, you would be better off contacting Dell for a new set of discs. If you use the discs from your desktop, you will probably run into problems when you have to register the copy of Windows. Since it is already registered on your desktop, you probably won't be able to register again on the laptop. Microsoft is really good(:~{ about making sure copies of their programs are registered properly and they don't like it when you try to register the same system twice.
